Description
ExpandThe KS1001 Kinda Special is a jean that sits somewhere between a slim and a straight. With its higher rise and fuller leg, it’s reminiscent of a classic Levi’s 1947 501 fit but instead of being straight through the whole leg, it has a slight taper that gives it the slimmer, more modern look which can be sized down for a slim fit or sized up for a more relaxed but not baggy fit.
The denim is a custom 13.75oz unsanforized loomstate selvedge denim made from 100% cotton by Cone Mills. What makes this particular denim “kinda” special is that the indigo yarns are dipped 8 times to recreate the look of the deadstock denim that he used for his RS01 jean and feels heftier and more rigid than the 13.75 oz weight suggests.
As expected, the KS1001 features many of the details found in previous jeans such as the shell stitching on the fly, chainstitched “Roy” embroidery on the pocket, and copper rivets. The leather patch is a new thinner design with artwork done by Roy and for the first time, it includes not only the name of the jean but also the size and model number. The back pockets and coin pocket are lined with canvas and the pocket bags are loomstate and sewn in a way to ensure even shrinking after the first soak.
Like with past releases, the jeans are all made by Roy from start to finish and only available in small quantities.

These jeans were bought new by me in 2014. I was saving them for the future. Since then my weight has changed and they won't fit properly. I have 5 pairs all in identical New Old Stock condition.
They were $340 new and won't ever be available again.
