Is there much a difference. I like the looks of the Jack Purcell but Ive owned 2 pairs of Chuck Taylors and have not like the way they felt on my feet. So is there much a difference?

the jack purcell's have some weight on them. not noticably heavy, its subtle. and the purcells suck on slippery surfaces i.e. manhole covers during the rain; I know this one personally..

other than that, its your basic Canvas/Rubber shoe with a "smile"

I think Chucks are more for the "counter culture" styles, and the purcells are more of a classic, casual shoe.

Agree with DJFlame the Purcells are more comfortable.

Agree with SENDkyl that it is ironic that misfits all wear the same shoe, haha. Converse has an ad campaign based on this dubious premise.

The Jack Purcell is a badminton shoe. Jack Purcell was a famous Canadian Badminton player from back in the day. The shoe has a traditional badminton sole which is one of the best for court use.

The Jack Purcell shoe is way more comfortable then a Chuck Taylor it has a thicker insole and a thicker mid/outsole.

Jack purcells FTW

I have both the slip-ons and the regular version and they are both pretty damn awesome. I like that the 'smile' balances the look of the shoe.

Chucks are everywhere, they look good though. You would think all white purcell's aren't that noticeable but i've gotten a good number of compliments on them and people asking me about them, something i didn't expect, especially since nobody ever asks me about my jeans images/icon_smile_sad.gif

What do you mean shit post? My grandma wears jack purcells. She's also a female. A girl is another name for female, in case you didn't know. Everything said in my post was valid and in no way constitutes as shit.

I love the comments handlethevibe. However I may pick up a pair of jack purcells in the near future regardless of being a female shoe or not.

Been rocking the white purcells since 1996, and these are solid. A bit heavy but they are nice plain white sneaks. Japan and Europe have leather Jack Purcells, but canvas contrasts with jeans nicely (leather tends to shine).

I definately would rock the purcells, not as many people have them, they are a little more grown up but still very casual (and comfortable)... The white slip-on purcells are pretty sweet with a nice pair of trousers. (could never find the coveted Calvin Klein slip-on boat shoes). However, above all, I still prefer Vans to both.

I got the black leather highs with the zipper lining. I also got size 9.5 and wear a 11. These shits run weird.

it's true not as many people have them. when i started wearing chucks in just about 1996 as well all the cool guys wore jack purcells, and i did not want to have a whole lot to do with them so i didn't want to wear purcell's. in this time frame purcell's have fallen in and out of favor just like chucks have. I've picked my horse and even though i don't have a problem with purcell's i'm not gonna change

Definitely purcels. They're definitely more comfortable and better made. note that there are two versions of the Purcel. The "premiere" edition or something with more padding and better laces, and the standard purcels (more like chucks), which are getting really hard to find. Last I checked you could only order them from converse's website.

Also, incase you were wondering, Purcels weren't even made by converse until the seventies. They used to be made by BF goodrich the rubber company. They must have sold the rights to make them to converse.

Unfortunately, as some of you know, converse was bought out by Nike a few years ago. Drag. It's a shame, they used to be known for their whole made in america spiel, the anti-nike. Now they're a part of it. If you don't believe me check out converses website, they have a feature exactly like NikeID there, right down to the menus.

I got 2 pairs of Purcells, one is all black nubuck with waxed metal tipped laces, the other is a dark grey tweed, with black leather accents.

I want a pair of canvas ones.
