if you want dirt cheap, go to that chinese buffet near canal and howard ,i think , for 4 bucks. For take out cheap Cuban, La Conquita on lafayette and spring, is a hole in the wall. Spend like 5 bucks. The chicken wrap on Mercer and Prince, a small snack stall, is good as well.

omg i know that buffer you are talking about ..yikes.

theres a spot on rivington and i believe its A cuban sandwiches are like 3.50

also nickys is a newish banh mi spot thats also on Ave A too..

i dont know if the 5 minute walk north of houston is too much (ha), but my favorite lunch spot by far is westville, at west 10th and bleecker. really amazing food, and simple, no-frills place. its also TINY so if you go at a busy time, be ready to basically sit on top of people. look their menu up on menupages or something.
