bro remember that show seinfeld? that shit was good imo

The fact that so many books still name Seinfeld as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" sitcom ever only tells you how television still is from becoming a serious art. Film critics have long recognized that the greatest directors of all times are Stanley Kubrick and James Cameron, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Literary critics rank the highly controversial Joyce over his contemporaries who were highly popular in circles around Europe. Television critics are still blinded by commercial success. Seinfeld was watched more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest

ripping through seasons 2 and 3 of spartacus just for some background noise. the dialogue/writing is so fucking corny is almost hurts, but the show is essentially just a gory softcore porn anyway, so whatev. ain't got shit on rome, that much is for sure

GoT has been pretty weak. It seems like wherever the series veers off from the books the plot really begins to suffer. The part in Dorne with the Sand Snakes was so lame, which is disappointing because they seemed like really interesting characters in the books.

just managed to watch the mm finale

goat television.

sopranos, the wire, mad men, deadwood, breaking bad (most of it) - that is S tier tv and for me, there isn't anything on at the moment to continue that list for the moment.

the only thing that i can pin my hopes on is fargo, and that's an anthology which i don't think allows for the rich character work which the aforementioned shows absolutely nailed. i'd love it for it to be the americans but for now it just doesn't have that extra.. i don't know what--it certainly doesn't have the humour of the shows already mentioned.

*actually maybe also rectify! watch it!

a toast to mad men.

  • 2 weeks later...

started deadwood out of the blue, can't believe i never watched this before. for shame

community all wrapped up -- the show will never be as good as the first couple of seasons, but i think yahoo did a good job with this last one all things considered

really looking forward to colbert's new show. once jon stewart leaves daily show it's basically only last week tonight left for that genre... don't have a lot of faith in that trevor noah successor after the weak ass colbert replacement comedy central came up with

mr. robot is... not good. could develop a long list of technology hot words, throw in a stereotypical computer nerd, and voila... you have USA's new show. the ratings aren't that bad, and i could see some folks enjoying it, but i feel shows like silicon valley handle the actual tech side of things much more accurately (even for a completely fictional company/product). maybe i'll give it another go once the next episodes finally drop in july, but the pilot was a bunch of smh moments (oh, you're using gnome! i've always been a kde guy myself... yeah yeah, i know what you're saying, why would a corporate bigwig use linux!, etc...)

Reminder from your local visual enthusiast with absolutely zero concern for your mental well-being: Hannibal returns tonight.
