Hi, I'm going to San Diego for a weekend this month and wanted to get some recommendations on good bars or even clubs for a group in their late 20's? If you have an restaurant recs, post those as well! I haven't been to San Diego in YEARS so I'm pretty excited to see what the city has to offer. icon_smile_big.gif Thanks!

W Hotel (near downtow) - nice lobby bar and upstairs "beach" bar...wannabe upscale.

On Broadway - Big LA/Miami style nightclub...fun if you want to dance, but cheese factor is high.

Airport Lounge in little Italy - Lounge bar with airport theme. Pretty cool but don't get there too late.

Decco's (downtown) - club for college crowd.

Aubergine (downtown) - club for mid 20's to 30's crowd. Good hiphop/mashup and diverse crowd.

Sidebar (downtown) - cool lounge/club...tends to get crowded on weekends quick.

Bar Dynamite (5 minutes from downtown) - bar with dancefloor that plays good hiphop on weekend. Kinda has fallen off in recent years.

Whistlestop (northpark) - hipster bar/club plays a variety of electro type shit depending on the night.

Air Conditioned (northpark) - hipster club spot as well.

If you hang out in the gaslamp district (downtown), you'll probably find something you'll like. I havent even mentioned the beach area club/bars and the North County scene.

For addresses and more info, check out www.signonsandiego.com and go to the entertainment section...use the search function. Also check out www.eventvibe.com and look up the san diego clubs.

Have fun.

Dives are the best, man..

NuNu's - Bar with one of the best jukeboxes in SD in my opinion. Good mix of hipsters and old-time local alcoholics. http://entertainment.signonsandiego.com/profile/91342

Star Bar - right in the middle of downtown SD, so it gets packed on the weekend. You have to pay cover on Friday and Sat (5 bucks), but the drinks are cheap and strong. The best part of this bar is that the bartenders and waitresses are scantily-clad older asian mama-san looking chicks. So the vibe is like a GI bar in "Good Morning Vietnam" circa 1972.

Red Fox - 50's-style retro piano bar with the red leather booth seating. Young, hip and old crowd. I heard the Fox serves steaks, but i've never partaken.

Live Wire - A block down the street from the Red Fox. Cool crowd and some nights feature DJ's. http://entertainment.signonsandiego.com/profile/86264

Landlord Jim's - Relatively new hipster spot, I guess because you can order a beer in a brown bag. http://entertainment.signonsandiego.com/profile/113322

Imperial House - Another retro, hip place. One of those bars where you order Maker's Mark.

Oh shit, just came across this article on SD dive bars..check it out. Be careful though..some of these spots are super divey...
