On another thread, I made my first post. It was about where to buy some sports merchandise in Sydney.

It was made clear to me that I should ask about such things elsewhere.

Is there a ban on sport related posts here on supertalk? If so, I do apologise.

No there is not, I think that the guy was just being an ass. If you do have questions on a specific city, however, Superjetset is normally where you should post, but if you didn't get any replies, it isn't because people don't talk about athletic gear, but rather, they have no answer for your question......
