kind of late but,
I see where youre coming from with that. I've done freelance work in graphics, photography etc and I've always been somewhat creative in everything I do, but to be honest I don't see enough future in any creative work that would make me pursue it. meaning anything design, fashion or art related. maybe some day I'll find some sort of a calling for myself, dont know.
to the original question, right now I study business management and do some investment work, I've worked in an asset management company but am currently sort of self employed. in the past I've been a sort of unofficial partner in my friends business for a year or so and as mentioned done freelance work related to design and photography.

Sorry, didn't see this till now- I don't mind posting here. I did 2 years of consulting & 3 years of tech management before that. As for pre-MBA education, dropped out of a state school to catch the tail-end of the dot-com bubble. A few years later, after moving to NYC, I transferred into NYU to finish up a History & Mgmt degree post-haste so that I could apply to b-school.
IIRC from a prior similar thread, you're in IB and went to Stanford, right? If you're in a name-brand bank, it's probably safe to say your GPA is high. So assuming you have a good story and can write well, you're set for a top 10 program with a strong chance for top 5, in my opinion.
Just to echo some other posters, I'm always amazed at how much money people drop here. My wife and I cleared $250k last year and I still feel like I'm stretching it if I spend more than $500/mo on clothing. Maybe it's my debt-averse lower middle-class southern upbringing or anal saving habits kicking in, but when I added things up at the end of the year, I felt like a retard for spending so much on attire.

Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/twistedtrees) here with the same problems. Funny how those things cross all lines of business. It's also funny how I'm applying to design grad schools because I have the stupid idea that things would be different if I were working on product design. But I'm more wanting to get into business design, like "manager of user experience" positions that seem to be big in the huge companies now.

Too many people are enchanted by the high paycheck w/o knowing the nature of the job or the duress that comes with it. The only people I've met who last in banking longer than a couple years actually enjoy the work and it's often quite obvious who those people are. Coming from an ex-consultant who knows he doesn't care enough to hack it in banking.

Very well said. You really have to be satisfied and care about the work to keep it up for more than a handful of years. I don't think those who "don't care" ever make it that far. Not because they're incapable, but because there are equally capable who care that much more. It's just too overwhelming (understandingly so) if you are the type of guy/woman who eventually wants to be around for your family a little more. While you're in your 20's with nobody to look out for though, going hard is a little easier to rationalize.

holla, where are you studying, what year are you in? I am in Canada, and just finishing undergrad ( I have two interviews in the next two weeks in Ontario gah). If I don t get in this year, I am going to apply to the states and am strongly looking at Columbia because they seem to welcome international students more than others.
For all the other premed/med folks, where are you/ where are you thinking of going?

So um, is it tastier that way herpsky?
As of recently I am a kindergarten teacher. I get paid to meld little kids minds and make them rattle off stupid things that come to me throughout the day, get a free lunch, get to bring my guitar in sometimes and then jam on the in-house drum kit after school too. Downside is that I often end up with combination food/snot stain patches on the shoulders of my $200 sweaters from holding crying kids and I get punched in the penis a lot for no apparent reason other than the fact that they're all 80cm tall.
Jealous of you college kids....

My ideal job would preferably be in an office, girl to guy ratio of 5 girls to 2 or maybe 3 guys, packed with good looking girls, single of course, good to excellent pay, light work load, a managment position would be nice, weekends off, friday half days.
And maybe also late start mondays for those sunday drinkers.

GET OUT NOW!! There is no money in tv, except advertising sales, which means you have to deal with used car salesmen all day. It's somewhat rewarding knowing that the stuff I do can be seen in 80 million households, but only like 5 people actually watch, and the "producers" get the credit.
Just remember the old saying-"If you go to work and your name is on the building, you're rich. If your name is on your desk, you're middle class. If your name is on your stuff, you're poor."
Don't know who said it, but it's true. That's why I printed a sign with my name on it for my desk in my cubicle.

Just recently decided to major in English, just because of the fact that I read so much it's not even funny.
